Moving out at the end of a fixed term lease


  1. A tenant must give the appropriate notice to move out at the end of their fixed term, if you have the appropriate clause in your lease.
  2. The 14 days notice must show rent only and no admin / late fees.
  3. Rent review date is the date the letter is delivered, not the date the new rent takes affect.
  4. Be fast with informing tenants of re-letting fees and other fees if they change their minds about taking an apartment. Adjudicators can use this as an excuse to award tenants.
  5. According to the CER and IPOA, tenants are 100% responsible for damages from installing a pre-pay meter.
  6. Introducing surprise information and accusations at adjudications often works; adjudicators don't like refusing new evidence.
